Designed to power next-generation in-car audio and infotainment systems, the A8600 provides all the control and protection circuitry needed to run four high-current regulators with an accuracy of ±1.5%. The A8600 has control circuitry for running three adjustable asynchronous buck regulators with integrated MOSFETs. In addition, the A8600 provides the control circuitry, gate drivers, and current sensing needed to run a synchronous buck controller with an external MOSFET. In standby mode, the A8600 consumes less than 50 μA in a 12 V VIN and uses pulse frequency modulation (PFM) to deliver 3.3 V/40 μA through the constant regulator SW1. The constant-pass regulator can operate at voltages down to 3.6 V VIN (VIN drop).
Features of the A8600 include: an EN/SYNC input to turn on/off the A8600 or increase/decrease the basic pulse width modulation (PWM) frequency, four adjustable soft-start times, and four external compensation pins. Output voltage monitoring for switches SW2, SW3, and SW4 is provided by an independent open-drain POK output. In addition, the A8600 offers two high-voltage, high-end switches with foldback overcurrent protection. These two high-end switches actively block reverse current. The A8600 also offers direct battery (BU) and switched (accessory) cell (ACC) detectors and a silent pulse output with adjustable delay.
The A8600's protection features include pulse-by-pulse current limiting, burp mode short-circuit protection, asynchronous diode protection, BOOT voltage protection, undervoltage lockout, overvoltage protection, and over-temperature shutdown.
The A8600 is available in a low-profile, 48-pin LQFP package with an exposed power strip (suffix: LP). The package is lead-free (Pb) and features a 100% matte tin plated pin frame.
