The A8650 is an adjustable frequency, high output currentPWM regulator, combining high-side P-channel MOSFETs and low-side N-channel MOSFETs. The A8650 integrates current-mode control to provide simple compensation, excellent loop stability, and fast transient response. The A8650 utilizes external compensation to be compatible with a wide range of power components to optimize transient response without compromising stability. The A8650 regulates input voltages from 2.5 to 5.5 V, providing output voltages as low as 0.8 V and load currents of at least 2.0 A.

Features of the A8650 include an externally adjustable switching frequency, an externally programmed soft-start time to minimize inrush current, an EN/SYNC input to enable VOUT and/or synchronous PWM switching frequency, and an indication VOUTPower Supply Good Operating (POK) output within regulation. The sleep mode current of the A8650 control circuit is less than 3 μA. Protection features include VINUndervoltage lockout (UVLO), cycle-by-cycle overcurrent protection (OCP), hiccup mode short-circuit protection (HIC), overvoltage protection (OVP), and thermal shutdown (TSD). In addition, the A8650 provides open- and adjacent pin short-circuit protection, short-to-ground protection on each pin to meet the most demanding automotive applications.

The A8650 is available in a 10-pin MSOP package with an exposed heatsink for increased thermal functionality. The package is lead (Pb) free with 100% matte tin leadframe plating.
