Allegro® ACS711 for

The device containsLinear Hall sensorsAn integrated circuit with a copper current path close to the surface of the wafer. The current applied through this copper current path generates a magnetic field that can be sensed by the integrated Hall IC and converted into a proportional voltage. Device accuracy is optimized by placing the magnetic signal close to the Hall sensor.

The slope of the output of the device is proportional to the current from IP+ to IP– (pins 1 and 2 to pins 3 and 4). The conduction path has internal resistance of 0.6 mΩ (EX package) and 1.2 mΩ (LC package) and provides a non-intrusive measurement interface for applications requiring energy savings.

While the terminations of the current path are insulated from the sensor IC wires, the ACS711 is ideal for low-side current sensing applications, providing sufficient internal creepage and isolation space for low AC or DC operating voltage applications. The size of the copper wire allows the device to operate under overcurrent conditions of up to 5×.

The ACS711 is available in small surface mount packages: SOIC8 and QFN12. The leadframe is 100% matte tin plating for compatibility with standard lead-free printed circuit board assembly processes. The device is internally lead-free, except for the current RoHS-exempt high-temperature leaded solder balls used in the flip method. The device is fully calibrated before shipping from the factory.
