The AD558 DACPORT® is a complete voltage output 8-bit digital-to-analog converter that integrates an output amplifier, a full microprocessor interface, and a precision reference on a single chip. No external components or adjustments are required to interface the 8-bit data bus with the analog system with full accuracy.
The performance and versatility of this DACPORT device reflect several recent developments in single-chip bipolar technology. The complete microprocessor interface and control logic are implemented using integrated injection logic (I2 L), an extremely high-density, low-power logic structure that is compatible with linear bipolar manufacturing processes. The internal precision reference is a patented low-voltage bandgap circuit that delivers full-accuracy performance from a single +5 V to +15 V supply. Thin-film silicon-chromium resistors provide the stability needed for monotonic operation over the entire operating temperature range (all grades), and the latest laser wafer adjustment technology enables factory absolute calibration within ±1 LSB of error, eliminating the need for gain or offset voltage adjustments. The new circuit design enables voltages to achieve ±1/2 LSB accuracy (full-scale stepping) within 800 ns.
The AD558 is available in four performance classes. The AD558J and AD558K have an operating temperature range of 0°C to +70°C, while the AD558S and AD558T have an operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C. The J and K grades are available in 16-pin plastic (N) or sealed ceramic (D) DIPS packages, as well as in 20-pin JEDEC standard PLCC packages. Both the S and T stages are available in a 16-pin sealed ceramic DIP package.
