The AD5668 is a low-power, 8-channel, 16-bit buffered voltage output DAC. The device operates from a single 2.7 V to 5.5 V supply and is designed to be monotonious.
The AD5668 has a built-in on-chip reference with an internal gain of 2. The AD5668-1 has a built-in 1.25 V, 5 ppm/°C reference with a full-scale output range of 2.5 V; The AD5668-2 and -3 have a built-in 2.5 V, 5 ppm/°C reference with a full-scale output range of up to 5 V. When powered on, the on-chip reference is turned off, allowing the use of an external reference. The internal voltage reference is enabled by software write.
The device has a built-in power-on reset circuit that ensures that the DAC output is powered up to 0 V (AD5668-1, -2) or medium range (AD5668-3) and maintains that level until a valid write operation is performed. In addition, it features independent power-saving features for each channel, reducing the device's power consumption to 400 nA at 5 V in power-saving mode and providing software-selectable output loads.
The /LDAC function allows you to update all DAC outputs at the same time, and you can also select the DAC channel to update at the same time. There is also an asynchronous/CLR function that is updated to user-programmable code: zero-level, medium-scale, or full-scale.
The AD5668 features a versatile three-wire serial interface that is capable of operating at clock rates up to 50 MHz and is compatible with standard SPI®, QSPI™, MICROWIRE™, and DSP interface standards. It has a built-in on-chip precision output amplifier that enables rail-to-rail output swing.
