The AD584 is an 8-pin precision reference source that offers four common output voltage options with pin programmability: 10.000 V, 7.500 V, 5.000 V, and 2.500 V. Other output voltages above, below, or between the four standard outputs can be obtained by increasing the external resistance. The input voltage can vary between 4.5 V and 30 V.
The device uses laser wafer adjustment (LWT) technology to adjust pin-programmable output levels and temperature coefficients for the most flexible single-chip, high-precision reference source.
In addition to the programmable output voltage, the AD584 offers a unique strobe pin through which the device can be turned on or off. When the device is used as a power reference source, the power supply can be shut off using a single low-power signal. In the off state, the current consumed by the device drops to about 100 μA. In the ON state, the total supply current is typically 750 μA, including the output buffer amplifier.
The AD584 is recommended as a voltage reference for 8-bit, 10-bit, or 12-bit digital-to-analog converters (DACs) that require an external precision reference source. It is also ideal for analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) with up to 14-bit accuracy, whether successive approximation or integrated ADCs, and typically outperforms standard stand-alone references.
The AD584J and AD584K are rated for an operating temperature range of 0°C to +70°C, and the AD584S and AD584T are rated for -55°C to +125°C. All grades are available in a sealed 8-pin TO-99 metal cap case; The AD584J and AD584K are also available in an 8-pin PDIP package.
