• AD5933is a high-precision impedance converter system solution with an on-chip frequency generator and a 12-bit, 1 MSPS analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The external complex impedance is excited by a signal generated by a frequency generator, and the response signal of the external impedance is sampled by an on-chip ADC and then processed by a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) by the on-chip DSP. The DFT algorithm returns one real (R) data word and one imaginary (I) data word at each frequency.

  After calibration, it is easy to calculate the impedance amplitude and relative phase of each sweep frequency point. The calculation is done off-chip using real and imaginary register content, which can be derived from serial I₂C interface read.
