Product details

The AD630 can be thought of as integrating two independent differential input stagesPrecision operational amplifiersand precision comparators that can be used to select active front ends. The comparator's fast response time, along with the linear amplifier's high slew rate and fast settling time, minimize switching distortion.


The AD630 is used in precision signal processing and instrumentation applications that require a wide dynamic range. When the AD630 is used as a synchronous demodulator in a locked-in amplifier configuration, small signals can be recovered from 100 dB of unwanted noise (see the Locked-in Amplifier Applications section). While the circuit is optimized for operating frequencies up to 1 kHz, it is also useful at frequencies up to several hundred kilohertz.


Other features of the AD630 include pin-programmable frequency compensation; Optional input bias current compensation resistors, common-mode and differential offset voltage adjustments, and channel status outputs to indicate which of the two differential inputs is active.

  1. The application flexibility of the AD630 makes it ideal for applications requiring precision fixed gain, switching gain, multiplexing, integrated switching functionality, and highly precision amplification.
  2. The 100 dB dynamic range of the AD630 exceeds that of any hybrid or IC balanced modulator/demodulator and is comparable to the dynamic range of expensive signal processing instruments.
  3. The op amp design of the AD630 makes it easy to implement high gain or complex switching feedback functions. Application resistors facilitate the most common applications without the need for additional components.
  4. The AD630 can be used as a 2-channel multiplexer with gains of 1, 2, 3, or 4. A channel isolation of 100 dB at 10 kHz is close to the limit achievable with an empty IC package.
  5. In most cases, laser adjustment and amplification channel offset of the comparator do not require external zero point calibration.
