The AD660 DACPORT® is a complete 16-bit single-chip digital-to-analog converter with an on-chip voltage reference, dual buffer latches, and an output amplifier. It is manufactured using Analog Devices' BiMOS II process and enables high-precision bipolar linear circuitry with low-power CMOS logic on the same chip.
The AD660 architecture ensures that 15-bit monotonicity does not change over time and temperature. The integral nonlinearity and differential nonlinearity error are maintained at ±0.003% (maximum). The on-chip output amplifier enables voltage outputs to be within 1/2 LSB of accuracy (full-scale stepping) at 10 μs.
The AD660 is equipped with an extremely flexible digital interface. Data can be loaded into the AD660 in serial mode or in dual 8-bit byte format. Achieved through two digital input pins with dual functionality. The serial mode input format is selected by pin and can be MSB or LSB first. With serial output pins, users can daisy-chain several AD660 devices: shifting data via the input latch to the next DAC, minimizing the number of control lines required to connect the SIN, CS, and LDAC. The byte mode input format is also flexible, with the option to load high-byte or low-byte data first. The dual-buffer latch structure not only eliminates data skew errors but also enables simultaneous updates of DACs in multi-DAC systems.
AD660 is divided into five levels. The AN and BN grades are rated for a temperature range of −40°C to +85°C and are available in a 24-pin, 300-mil plastic DIP package. The AR and BR stages are also rated for a temperature range of −40°C to +85°C and are available in a 24-pin SOIC package. The SQ stage is available in a 24-pin, 300 mil CERDIP package and is also available in MIL-STD-883 compliant models.
