The AD7245A and AD7248A are enhanced versions of the industry standard AD7245/AD7248, respectively, with improvements including operation from 12 V to 15 V, ± 1/2 LSB linearity grades, faster interface times, and better full-scale and reference voltage fluctuations with VDD. Other features include extended operating temperature ranges for commercial and industrial grades.
The AD7245A/AD7248A are complete 12-bit, voltage outputsDigital-to-analog converters, which integrates the output amplifier and Zener reference on a single CMOS chip. No external adjustment is required by the user to achieve full rated performance.
Both devices are microprocessor-compatible and feature high-speed data latches and double-buffered interface logic. The AD7245A accepts 12 bits of parallel data that is loaded into the input latch on the rising edge of CS or WR. The AD7248A has an 8-bit wide data bus and data is loaded into the input latch in two writes. Both devices transmit data from the input latch to the DAC latch via asynchronous LDAC signals and update the analog output. The AD7245A also has a CLR signal on the DAC latch that enables features such as power-on reset.
An embedded 5 V Zener diode provides the low noise, temperature compensated reference required for the DAC. When operating from a single supply, it can provide both 0 V to +5 V and 0 V to +10 V output ranges; When operating from dual supplies, an additional ±5 V output range is provided in addition to the above two output ranges. The output amplifier is capable of generating +10 V to ground (GND) across a 2 kΩ load.
The AD7245A/AD7248A are linear-compatible CMOS (LC).2MOS), a state-of-the-art hybrid process technology that combines precision bipolar circuitry with low-power CMOS logic. The AD7245A is available in a 0.3" wide, 24-lead small DIP, SOIC, and 28-lead surface-mount package. The AD7248A is available in a 0.3" wide, 20-lead small DIP, SOIC, and 20-lead surface-mount package.
