The AD7303 is a dual-channel, 8-bit output DAC that operates from a single +2.7 V to +5.5 V supply. It has a built-in on-chip precision output buffer that enables rail-to-rail output swing range. The device features a versatile three-wire serial interface that can operate at clock rates up to 30 MHz and is compatible with QSPI, SPI, MICROWIRE, and digital signal processor interface standards. The serial input register is 16 bits, of which 8 bits are used as data bits for the DAC and the remaining 8 bits form a control register.
The on-chip control registers include determining the address of the relevant DAC, putting the entire device or individual DAC into power-saving mode, selecting an internal or external voltage reference, and providing a synchronous loading device to update each DAC output simultaneously using the software LDAC function.
The device's low power consumption makes it ideal for portable, battery-powered devices. The maximum power consumption is 7.5 mW at 3 V, which drops to less than 3 μW in full power-saving mode.
The AD7303 is available in 8-pin plastic dual in-line, 8-pin SOIC, and microSOIC packages.
