The AD7656A-1 is a pin- and software-compatible version AD7656A reduce decoupling requirements, with six built-in 16-bit, fast, low-power successive approximation ADCs integrated into a single package designed using the iCMOS® process (industrial grade CMOS). iCMOS is a process that combines high-voltage silicon with submicron CMOS and complementary bipolar technologies. This process enables the development of high-performance analog ICs operating at 33V high voltages with volumetric performance ratios that are not possible with conventional high-voltage devices. Unlike analog ICs that use traditional CMOS processes, iCMOS devices can input bipolar signals while improving performance, significantly reducing power consumption and package size.
The AD7656A-1 has a throughput rate of up to 250 kSPS and a built-in wide-bandwidth (4.5 MHz) sample-and-hold amplifier that can handle input frequencies up to 4.5 MHz.
The conversion process and data acquisition are controlled using CONVST x signals and internal oscillators. Three CONVST x pins (CONVST A, CONVST B, and CONVST C) allow three pairs of ADCs to sample independently. The AD7656A-1 features both a high-speed parallel interface and a high-speed serial interface, creating the conditions for devices to interface with a microprocessor or digital signal processor (DSP). In serial interface mode, the AD7656A-1 allows multiple ADCs to be daisy-chained to a single serial interface. AD7656A-1 is available ? ? VREF and? ? True bipolar input signals are supported within the VREF range. The AD7656A-1 also has a built-in 2.5 V on-chip reference source.
