The AD8522 is a complete dual-channel, 12-bit, single-supply, voltage-output DAC in a 14-pin DIP or SO-14 surface-mount package. It is manufactured using the CBCMOS process and has a built-in serial digital interface, on-chip reference and buffer voltage output. Ideal for systems with only +5 V supplies, this single-chip device is low-cost and easy to use, allowing for full performance without the need for external components.
The serial digital interface features a simple high-speed, three-wire data, clock, and load gating format that interfaces directly with many microcontroller ports. The 16-bit serial word contains a 12-bit data word and a DAC select address, which can be decoded internally or externally using input. Serial data outputs combined with chip selection inputs allow users to easily daisy-chain multiple devices. The reset RS input sets the output to either zero or medium scale, as determined by the input MSB.
With a full-scale output of 4.095 V, it is laser-tuned to maintain accuracy over the entire operating temperature range of the device and provides easy-to-use 1 mV resolution per person. The 2.5 V reference output can also be used externally, such as for other data acquisition circuits and ratio applications. The output buffer is capable of driving ± 5 mA current.
The AD8522 is available in a 14-pin molded DIP and a 1.5 mm, low-profile SOIC-14 package.
