In addition to the DAC, an on-chip rail-to-rail amplifier, latch, and reference are integrated. The voltage reference (VREF) is adjusted to provide a 2.5 V output, and the on-chip amplifier boosts the DAC output to 4.095 V full-scale. Users only need to provide a +5 V supply.
The AD8582 uses natural binary encoding. The op-amp outputs from 0 V to +4.095 V with a resolution of 1 mV per person and are capable of driving ± 5 mA current. The operating voltage can be reduced to 4.3 V at a time when the output load current is less than 1 mA.
High-speed parallel data interfaces can be connected to the fastest processors without waiting. The dual-buffered input structure allows the user to load the input registers one at a time, and then a single-load gating connected to the LDA and LDB inputs updates both DAC outputs at the same time. LDA and LDB can also be activated independently to update the corresponding DAC registers immediately. When the chip selects the CS input gating, the address input decodes DAC A or DAC B. The asynchronous reset input sets the output to zero. When the reset input is strobed, the preset value can be set to medium scale using the MSB bit.
The AD8582 is available in 24-pin molded DIP and SOIC-24 surface-mount packages, each rated for a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and a supply voltage range of +5 V ± 5%.
