Product details

The AD8582 is a complete parallel-input, dual, 12-bit voltage-output digital-to-analog converter that operates from a single +5 V supply. Manufactured on a CBCMOS process, this monolithic DAC is designed for system applications with only +5 V supplies and is low-cost and easy to use.

In addition to the DAC, an on-chip rail-to-rail amplifier, latch, and reference are integrated. Reference voltage (VREFThe output is trimmed to 2.5 V, and the on-chip amplifier boosts the DAC output to 4.095 V full-scale. The user only needs to provide a +5 V supply.

The AD8582 uses natural binary encoding. The op amp output swings from 0 V to +4.095 V with a resolution of 1 mV per bit and is capable of driving ±5 mA. The operating voltage can be reduced to 4.3 V with an output load current of less than 1 mA.

A high-speed parallel data interface can be connected to the fastest processor without the processor waiting. The double-buffered input structure allows the user to load input registers one at a time, and then a single-load strobe connected to the LDA and LDB inputs updates both DAC outputs simultaneously. LDA and LDB can also be activated independently so that the corresponding DAC registers can be updated immediately. When the chip selects CS input strobe, the address input decodes DAC A or DAC B. The asynchronous reset input sets the output to zero scale. When the reset input is gated, the preset value can be set to midscale with the MSB bit.

The AD8582 is available in 24-lead plastic DIP and SOIC-24 surface-mount packages, each with a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and a supply voltage range of +5 V ± 5%.
