    AD9838is a low-power DDS device capable of generating high performance sine wave and triangle wave outputs. It also integrates one on-chipComparator, which supports generating square waves for clock generation. When the supply voltage is 2.3 V, it consumes only 11 mW, making it ideal for power-sensitive applications.

    The AD9838 provides phase modulation and frequency modulation. The frequency register is 28 bits; At a clock rate of 16 MHz, a resolution of 0.06 Hz can be achieved; At a clock rate of 5 MHz, a resolution of 0.02 Hz can be achieved. Frequency and phase modulation are configured by loading registers through the serial interface and then switching registers via software or the FSELECT/PSELECT pins.

    The AD9838 writes data through a 3-wire serial interface. The serial interface is capable of operating at clock rates up to 40 MHz and is compatible with DSP and microcontroller standards.

    The device operates from a 2.3 V to 5.5 V supply. The analog and digital parts are independent of each other and can be powered by different power supplies; For example, AVDD can be 5 V, while DVDD can be 3 V.

    The AD9838 has a shutdown pin (SLEEP) that allows external control of shutdown mode. Unused parts of the device can be shut down to minimize power dissipation. For example, the DAC can be powered down when a clock output is generated.

    The AD9838 is available in a 20-lead LFCSP_WQ package.
