These converters are low-power, monolithic, 12-bit, analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) that operate from 2.7 to 5.5V supplies. The converter is based on successive approximation internal track-and-hold circuitry that can handle register structures with input frequencies up to 11MHz. These converters operate from a single supply and are also used as a reference. The features of the device are: I 2 C compatible Serial interface that operates in all three speed modes, including high-speed mode (3.4MHz).

The ADC121C021's alarm function provides an interrupt that is activated when a programmable analog input upper or lower value is violated. The device features an automatic conversion mode, which frees up the controller and I 2 C interface. In this mode, the analog input of the ADC is continuously monitored, providing an interrupt for an "out of range" condition if the measured voltage goes out of range.

The ADC121C021 comes in two packages: a small package with an alarm output in a TSOT-6 package, and an input package with MSOP-8 with an alarm output and 2 address selects. should ADC121C027 A small TSOT-6 address selection input packet is used. should ADC121C027 Three pin-selectable addresses are available, while the MSOP-8 ADC121C021 version provides nine pin-selectable addresses. Normal power consumption uses a +3 V or +5 V supply or 0.78 mW 0.26 mW respectively. The automatic power-down function reduces power consumption by less than 1μW although it does not convert. Operating at -40°C industrial temperature range is guaranteed at 105°C. Its low power consumption and small package make this family of ADCs ideal for battery-powered devices.
