ADE7116 single-phase energy metering IC with integrated 8052 MCU, RTC, and LCD driver

ADE7116/ADE7156/ADE7166/ADE7169/ADE7566/ADE7569¹Analog Devices energy (ADE) metering IC analog front end and fixed-function DSP solution with an enhanced 8052 MCU core, RTC, LCD driver, and all peripherals provide a meter with LCD display.

The ADE measurement core includes active, reactive, and apparent power calculations as well as rms measurements for voltage and current. This information can be used directly for billing purposes via the built-in energy scalar. Energy metering DSPs include many power line monitoring functions such as SAG, peak, and zero crossover to simplify meter design.

Microprocessor features include a single-cycle 8052 core, real-time clock with backup power pins, UART, and SPI or I²C® interface. ADE cores provide out-of-the-box information, reducing program memory size requirements and making it easy to integrate complex designs into 16 kB of flash memory.

The ADE7116/ADE7156/ADE7166/ADE7169/ADE7566/ADE7569 also include a 108/104-segment LCD driver. In the ADE7166/ADE7169/ADE7566/ADE7569, this driver generates voltages capable of driving the LCD up to 5 V.
