ADE7116 Single-phase energy metering IC with integrated 8052 MCU, RTC, and LCD driver
ADE7116/ADE7156/ADE7166/ADE7169/ADE7566/ADE75691 integrates Analog Devices' power (ADE) metering IC analog front-end and fixed-function DSP solutions with enhanced 8052 MCU cores, RTCs, LCD drivers, and all peripherals to provide a meter with an LCD display.
The ADE measurement core includes active, reactive, and apparent power calculations as well as voltage and current RMS measurements. This information can be used directly for billing purposes through built-in energy scalars. Energy metering DSPs include many power line monitoring functions such as SAG, peak, and zero crossovers to simplify meter design.
Microprocessor features include a single-cycle 8052 core, a real-time clock with backup power pins, UART, and an SPI or I2C® interface. The ADE core provides directly available information, reducing program memory size requirements and making it easy to integrate complex designs into 16 kB flash memory.
ADE7116/ADE7156/ADE7166/ADE7169/ADE7566/ADE7569 also includes a 108/104-segment LCD driver. In ADE7166/ADE7169/ADE7566/ADE7569, this driver generates voltage capable of driving the LCD up to 5 V.
