Interface devicesoperates from a single 3.3 V supply. Low power consumption makes it ideal for battery-powered portable meters. The ADM3232E complies with EIA-232E and CCITT V.28 specifications and has data rates up to 460 kbps.
All RS-232 (T_OUT and R_IN) and TTL/CMOS (T_IN and R_OUT) inputs and outputs are ESD protected (up to ± 15 kV ESD) to ensure compliance with IEC 1000-4-2.
Because the input/output pins provide ± 15 kV ESD protection, the device is ideal for operation in electrically harsh environments or applications where RS-232 cables need to be plugged and unplugged frequently.
Radiation is also kept within very strict limits. With CMOS technology, the absolute minimum power consumption is ensured, resulting in the longest battery life for portable applications.
The voltage doubler/inverter uses four 0.1 μF external charge pump capacitors, which allows the device to operate from a single 3.3 V supply.
The ADM3232E is available in a 16-lead narrow SOIC package and a space-saving 16-lead TSSOP package.
