ADM7170 is a CMOS, low-dropout (LDO) linear regulator that operates from a 2.3 V to 6.5 V supply with a maximum output current of 500 mA. This high-output current LDO is suitable for regulating high-performance analog and mixed-signal circuits with 6 V to 1.2 V supply. The device uses an advanced proprietary architecture that provides high power rejection, low noise, and excellent line and load transient response performance with a small 4.7 μF ceramic output capacitor. Typical load transient response is 1.5 μs (1 mA to 500 mA load step).
ADM7170 offers 17 fixed output voltage options. These options are available in the following voltages: 1.3 V, 1.8 V, 2.5 V, 3.0 V, 3.3 V, 4.2 V, and 5.0 V. On request, the following additional voltage options are available: 1.5 V, 1.85 V, 2.0 V, 2.2 V, 2.7 V, 2.75 V, 2.8 V, 2.85 V, 3.8 V, and 4.6 V. An adjustable model is also available that regulates the output voltage from 1.2 V to VIN − VDO via an external feedback divider.
The start-up time can be adjusted via the soft-start pin to control the inrush current. With a 1 nF soft-start capacitor, the typical start-up time is about 1.0 ms.
ADM7170 regulator has an output noise voltage of 5 μV rms and is independent of the output voltage. Available in 8-pin, 3 mm × 3 mm LFCSP packages, ADM7170 are extremely compact and offer excellent thermal dissipation for low-profile, small-form factor applications requiring up to 500 mA output current.
