ADP2442 is a constant frequency, synchronous step-down DC-DC regulator controlled by current mode that can drive loads up to 1 A with excellent line and load regulation characteristics. It operates over a wide input voltage range (4.5 V to 36 V), making it ideal for tuning power for many types of input sources. In addition, it has a very low minimum on-time (50 ns), making it suitable for applications that require a very high step-down ratio.
The output voltage is adjustable from 0.6 V to 0.9 × VIN. The device integrates a low-resistance N-channel MOSFET for both high-end and low-end devices for high efficiency.
The switching frequency can be adjusted from 300 kHz to 1 MHz using an external resistor. In addition, ADP2442 has a precise PGOOD open-drain output signal.
It offers flexible external clock synchronization capabilities. The switching frequency can be synchronized to an external clock applied to the SYNC/MODE pin. ADP2442 can also be configured to operate in forced fixed frequency mode to reduce EMI; or in energy-saving mode to reduce switching losses under light load.
ADP2442 use hiccup mode to protect the IC from short circuits or overcurrent conditions at the output. Internal soft-start limits inrush current when multiple load capacitors are started. Other important features include input undervoltage lockout (UVLO), thermal shutdown (TSD), and precision enable (EN), which can also be used for logic-level shutdown inputs.
ADP2442 is available in a 3 mm × 3 mm, 12-pin LFCSP package and is rated for an operating temperature range of −40°C to +125°C.
