ADP3301 belongs to the ADP330x series of precision low-dropout anyCAP® voltage regulators. ADP3301 stands out from traditional LDOs in terms of its novel architecture, enhanced process technology, and novel packaging. The patented design includes a in-phase wideband driver and a circuit stage that allows for the use of internal "pole separation" capacitors to stabilize a feedback loop with an output capacitance as small as 0.47 μF. The device can operate reliably with any type of capacitor, including ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) for space-constrained applications, regardless of their ESR (equivalent series resistance) value. ADP3301 achieves excellent accuracy of ± 0.8% at room temperature and an overall accuracy of ±1.4% for temperature, line, and load adjustments. ADP3301 differential pressure at 100 mA is only 100 mV (typical).
In addition to the new architecture and process, ADI's new proprietary thermal coastline package can handle 1 W of power consumption without external cooling or large copper layers on the PC board. This allows the ADP3301 PC board area to be effectively reduced, making it ideal for portable device use.
ADP3301 has a wide input voltage range of 3 V to 12 V and can provide more than 100 mA of load current. The device has an error identification feature that misidentifies signals when the device is about to enter an unregulated state, or when short-circuit or thermal overload protection is activated. Other features include shutdown and optional noise cancellation. The ADP330x anyCAP®* LDO series offers a wide output voltage range and output currents from 50 mA to 200 mA:
ADP3300 (50 mA, SOT-23 package)
ADP3303 (200 mA)
