Housed in an MSOP-8 package with minimal thermal resistance and an improved process, the device offers superior performance over traditional LDOs and performance advantages over competitive products. Its patented design requires only a 1.0 μF output capacitor to remain stable. The device is insensitive to the equivalent series resistance (ESR) of the output capacitor and is stable with any quality capacitor, including ceramic (MLCC) type capacitors for space-constrained applications. The ADP3336 achieves excellent accuracy of ±0.9% at room temperature and ±1.8% accuracy for temperature, line, and load changes. At 500 mA, the dropout voltage is only 200 mV (typical). The device also features safe current limit, thermal overload protection, and shutdown. In shutdown mode, the ground current drops to less than 1 μA. At small loads, the ADP3336 has an ultralow quiescent current of 80 μA (typical).
