The ADuM140 is a 4-channel digital isolator based on Analog Devices' iCoupler® technology. These isolated devices combine high-speed CMOS with single-chip air-core transformer technology to provide superior performance characteristics over alternatives such as optocouplers and other integrated couplers. The maximum propagation delay is 13 ns, and the pulse width distortion is less than 3 ns. It also has a strict channel-to-channel match of 3 ns.
The ADuM140 data channel is standalone and offers a variety of configurations to withstand a voltage rating of 3.75 kVrms (see Ordering Guide). They can operate from a 1.8 V to 5 V supply voltage, are compatible with low-voltage systems, and can achieve voltage conversion across isolation barriers.
Unlike other optocouplers, it ensures that there is no DC correctness during input logic conversion. They offer two different fail-safe options where the output transitions to a predetermined state when the input power is not used or the input is disabled. The ADuM140E is pin-compatible with the ADuM140x series.
