The iCoupler device does not use LEDs and photodiodes, so there are no design difficulties typically associated with optocouplers. The simple iCoupler digital interface and stable performance characteristics eliminate the current transfer ratio indeterminism, nonlinear transfer functions, and temperature and lifetime effects that optocouplers typically have. These iCoupler products do not require external drivers and other discrete devices. In addition, iCoupler devices consume only 1/10 to 1/6 the power of optocouplers at comparable signal data rates.
The ADuM2200/ADuM2201 isolators provide two independent isolation channels that support two channel configurations and data rates up to 10 Mbps (see Ordering Guide). Both devices operate from a 3.0 V to 5.5 V supply voltage, are compatible with low-voltage systems, and can achieve voltage conversion across isolation barriers. The ADuM2200/ADuM2201 isolators feature a patented refresh feature that ensures DC correctness during input logic conversion and power-up/shutdown.
Similar to the ADuM3200/ADuM3201 isolators, the ADuM2200/ADuM2201 isolators also contain various circuitry and layout improvements, and system-level IEC 61000-4-x testing (ESD, burst, and surge) shows that their performance is greatly enhanced. For ADuM3200/ADuM3201 or ADuM2200/ADuM2201 products, the accuracy of these tests depends primarily on the design and layout of the user's board or module.
