The ADuM2210 and ADuM22111 are dual-channel digital isolators based on Analog Devices' iCoupler® technology. These isolated devices combine high-speed CMOS with single-chip air-core transformer technology and offer superior performance characteristics over alternative devices such as optocouplers.
The iCoupler device does not use LEDs and photodiodes, so there are no design difficulties typically associated with optocouplers.
The simple iCoupler digital interface and stable performance characteristics eliminate the current transfer ratio indeterminism, nonlinear transfer functions, and temperature and lifetime effects that optocouplers typically have. These iCoupler products do not require external drivers and other discrete devices. In addition, iCoupler devices consume only 1/10 to 1/6 the power of optocouplers at comparable signal data rates.
The ADuM2210/ADuM2211 isolators provide two independent isolation channels that support multiple channel configurations and data rates. They can operate from a 3.0 V to 5.5 V supply voltage, are compatible with low-voltage systems, and are capable of voltage conversion across isolation barriers. Both the ADuM2210W and ADuM2211W are automotive applications.
Similar to the ADuM3200/ADuM3201 isolators, the ADuM2210/ADuM2211 isolators also contain various circuitry and layout improvements, and system-level IEC 61000-4-x testing (ESD, burst, and surge) shows significantly improved performance. For ADuM3200/ADuM3201 or ADuM2210/ADuM2211 products, the accuracy of these tests depends primarily on the design and layout of the user's board or module.
