The ADuM5230 is an isolated half-bridge gate driver with Analog Devices' iCoupler® technology that provides independent and isolated high-end and low-end outputs. Combining CMOS process and microtransformer technology, the isolation device includes an integrated DC-DC converter that provides isolated high-end power supplies. This eliminates the cost, space, and performance challenges associated with external power configurations such as bootstrap circuits. This high-end isolation power supply not only powers the ADuM5230's high-end outputs, but also any external buffer circuitry that is applicable to the ADuM5230.
Compared to gate drivers that take a high-voltage level-shifting approach, the ADuM5230 provides true galvanic isolation between the input and either output. The voltage difference between the operating voltage of each output and the operating voltage at the input can be as high as ±700 VP, so the low end can operate in a negative voltage state. The differential voltage between the high end and the low end can be up to 700 VP.
