APDS-9930 Digital Ambient Brightness and Proximity Sensor
The APDS-9930 provides an I²C interface compatible ambient luminance sensor (ALS) and a proximity sensor with infrared LED in a single 8-pin package, where the ambient luminance sensor uses dual photodiodes to approximate the human visual response with low lumen performance at 0.01 lux, providing high sensitivity that allows the device to operate behind dark glass. The proximity sensor is fully tuned for 100 mm object detection, eliminating the need for factory calibration of end devices and secondary components. From bright sunlight to dark rooms, proximity detection works well. Micro-optical lenses are added to the module to provide efficient transmission and reception of infrared energy, reducing overall power consumption. In addition, an internal state machine allows the device to enter a low-power mode with very low average power consumption.
