APDS-9930 Digital Ambient Brightness and Proximity Sensor
The APDS-9930 provides an I²C-compatible ambient light sensor (ALS) and a proximity sensor with infrared LEDs in a single 8-pin package where the ambient brightness sensor uses dual photodiodes to approximate the human eye visual response with low lumen performance at 0.01 lux illumination, providing high sensitivity that allows the device to operate under dark glass. The proximity sensor is fully tuned for 100mm object detection, eliminating the need for factory calibration of end equipment and sub-components. From bright sunlight to dark rooms, proximity detection works well. The inclusion of micro-optical lenses in the module provides efficient transmission and reception of infrared energy, reducing overall power consumption. In addition, an internal state machine puts the device into low-power mode, resulting in very low average power consumption.
