The A4910 is a three-phase controller that can be used with N-channel external power MOSFETs specifically for automotive applications.
The unique charge-pumped regulator provides a complete (>10 V) gate driver to handle battery voltages as low as 7 V and allows the A4910 to operate when the gate driver voltage drops to 5.5 V.
Bootstrap capacitors are used to provide the battery supply voltage described above required by N-channel MOSFETs. The high-end drive internal charge pump allows DC (100% duty cycle) operation.
The device provides full control of all six power MOSFETs in the three-phase bridge, allowing the motor to be driven by blocking commutation or sinusoidal excitation. Integrated cross-control and programmable no-inductive time keep the power MOSFET free from breakdown.
An integrated current sensing amplifier can be used to measure the current in each half-bridge. These are three user-configurable differential amplifiers with an underground common-mode range and excellent transient response and stabilization times, allowing them to be used in low-end current-sensing applications.
Integrated diagnostics indicate undervoltage, over-temperature, and power bridging faults, and can be configured to protect the power MOSFETs in most short-circuit situations. Detailed diagnostics are available in the form of serial data words.
The A4910 is available in a small (81 mm2) 48-pin LQFP package with an exposed heat shield (suffix JP). The package is lead-free and the pin frame is 100% matte tin plated.
