• Product Introduction

The A4942 three-phase motor driver integrates BEMF sensing, eliminating the need to install Hall sensors in fan applications.

A closed-loop speed control system is integrated into the IC. Therefore, the maximum and minimum speeds can be accurately set by selecting the external resistors. The speed is controlled by the duty cycle requirements from the application to the PWM input.

PWM inputs can operate over a wide frequency range.

Current limiting is integrated to save cost and PCB space on external inductive resistors. The current limit feature includes adjustable soft start to minimize the power supply load while accelerating the fan.

The A4942 is available in a 20-header 4mm × 4mm QFN package (suffix ES) with exposed heatshields for improved thermal performance. The package is lead-free and features a 100% matte tin-plated pinframe.
