ATS651LSH is a mechatronic assembly with integrated Hall-effect sensor ICs and rare earth magnets that provide an easy-to-use solution for speed and direction sensing applications. The thermoset molded plastic package contains a samarium-cobalt magnet and a Hall-effect IC optimized for magnetic circuits. The device is designed for high reliability in harsh automotive environments. The IC uses a patented algorithm to meet the special operating requirements of transmission applications.
The two-wire device transmits the velocity and direction of the ferromagnetic target via a pulse-width modulation (PWM) output protocol. The innovative dual-differential detector scheme uses three Hall elements and two independent signal processing channels. Higher reliability than conventional designs. Because there is only one channel control switch, the output signal (whether it is forward or backward target rotation) can be determined using the same edge of each gear tooth, and the direction information on the first magnetic edge can be used after the direction is changed.
The biggest advantage of ATS651LSH is that it handles vibration without degrading maximum air gap performance or generating false "directional" pulses. Even high-angle vibrations generated by engine start-up are completely eliminated by the device. Advanced vibration detection algorithms systematically calibrate the IC against the true rotation signal of the first three half teeth instead of vibration, thus ensuring the accuracy of the signal in operating mode at all times.
The patented operating mode also provides protection in the event of an air gap change, regardless of whether the target is in motion or not. Advanced signal processing and innovative algorithms make ATS651LSH an ideal solution for a wide range of speed and direction sensing needs.
