The DAC121S101 is a full-featured, general-purpose 12-bit voltage output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that operates from a +2.7 V to 5.5V supply and consumes only 177 μA at 3.6 volts. The on-chip output amplifier allows rail-to-rail output swing and three-wire serial interfaces to clock up to 30 MHz over the specified supply voltage range and is compatible with standard SPI, QSPI, MICROWIRE, and DSP interfaces. Competing products are limited to a clock rate of 20 MHz over a 2.7V to 3.6V supply voltage range.

The voltage of the DAC121S101 supply voltage is used as a reference to provide as much of the output dynamic range as possible. The reset circuit is powered on to ensure that the DAC's output power is up to zero volts and maintained until there is a valid write device. The power-down function reduces power consumption below microwatts.

The DAC121S101 is a direct replacement and DAC7512 for the AD5320 and is a pin-to-pin compatible DAC series that includes 8-bit DAC081S101 and 10-bit DAC101S101. The DAC121S101 operates over an extended -40°C industrial temperature range of +105°C, while DAC121S101Q operates to +125°C over an extended -40°C automotive temperature range of the first stage. The DAC121S101 is for 6-pin TSOT and 8-lead MSOP and DAC121S101Q is only available for 6-pin TSOT.
