The DAC121S101 is a full-featured, general-purpose 12-bit voltage-output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that operates from +2.7 V to 5.5 V supplies and consumes only 177 μA from 3.6 volts. THE ON-CHIP OUTPUT AMPLIFIER ALLOWS RAIL-TO-RAIL OUTPUT SWINGS AND A THREE-WIRE SERIAL INTERFACE TO CLOCK FREQUENCIES UP TO 30 UMHz in the specified supply voltage range and is compatible with standard spi, qspi, microwire, and dsp interfaces. Competitive products limit clock rates to 20 MHz over a 2.7V to 3.6V supply voltage range.

The voltage of the DAC121S101 supply voltage is referenced to provide as much output dynamic range as possible. Powering up the reset circuit ensures that the DAC's output power is up to zero volts and remains until a valid write device is available. The power-down function reduces the power consumption ratio to less than microwatts.

The low power consumption and small DAC121S101 package make it the best choice for use in battery-powered devices.

The DAC121S101 is a drop-in replacement for the AD5320 and the DAC7512, a pin-compatible DAC family consisting of the 8-bit DAC081S101 and the 10-bit DAC101S101. The DAC121S101 operates over the extended -40°C industrial temperature range of +105°C, while the DAC121S101Q operates to +125°C over an automotive temperature range of -40°C. The DAC121S101 is a 6-pin TSOT and 8-lead MSOP and the DAC121S101Q is only suitable for 6-pin TSOT.
