The circuit consists of a 12-bit serial input, parallel output shift registers, a 12-bit DAC register, a 12-bit CMOS DAC, and control logic. Serial data enters the input register at the rising edge of the CLK pulse. When a new data word is entered, it is loaded into the DAC register via the LD input pin. The data in the DAC registers is converted into output current by a digital-to-analog converter (DAC).
DAC8043 has a fast interface timing feature that reduces timing design considerations and microprocessor wait states. For applications that require asynchronous zeroing or more powerful microprocessor interface logic, refer to the AD5443.
DAC8043 powered from a single 5 V supply provides a low-power, small, high-performance solution that solves many application problems. The device is available in a PDIP package and is compatible with self-inserting devices. A 16-pin SOIC package is also available.
