The output voltage swing is set by two reference voltage inputs, VREFH and VREPL. When the VREFL input is set to 0 V and the VREFH is set to a positive voltage, the DAC provides a unipolar positive output range. With a similar configuration, where VREFH is 0 V and VREFL is negative, the DAC provides a unipolar negative output range. The bipolar outputs are configured by connecting both VREFH and VREFL to a non-zero voltage. This method of setting the output voltage range does not rely on internal and external resistors with different temperature coefficients, so it is superior to other bipolar offset methods.
Digital control allows the user to load or read back data from any DAC, load any DAC, and transfer data to all DACs at once.
Low-effective RESET loads all DAC output registers to medium (DAC8412) or zero (DAC8413).
DAC8412/DAC8413 are available in 28-pin plastic DIP packages, 28-pin ceramic DIP packages, 28-pin PLCC packages, and 28-pin LCC packages.
These devices can operate from a variety of supply and reference voltages, ranging from +5 V to ±15 V and +2.5 V to ±10 V reference. Powered by a ±15 V supply, the power consumption is less than 330 mW; When powered from a +5 V supply, the power consumption is only 60 mW.

All 883 devices are also available with pin distributions that conform to standard military drawings 5962-91 76401MXA through 76404M3A.
