DS14C232 is a low-power dual driver/receiver with a built-in DC-DC conversion that eliminates the need to ± a 12V power supply. The unit requires only a +5 V power supply. I specify that CC is ideal for 3.0 mA maximum, battery, and power-sensitive applications. The driver's slew rate setting is internal and the receiver has internal noise filtering, eliminating the need for external slew rate and filtering capacitors. The device is designed to interface with data terminal devices and data circuit end devices (DTEs) (DCEs). The driver input and receiver output are TTL and CMOS compatible. DS14C232C driver outputs and receiver inputs are TIA/EIA-232-E (RS-232) and CCITT V.28 compliant.
