In DS14C335 are three drivers, receiver five, and comply with five.28 TIA/EIA-232-E and CCITT standard specifications. The device utilizes a built-in DC-DC converter to produce the necessary output levels from a +3.3 V supply. The shutdown (duty) mode sets the supply current to a maximum of 10μA. In SD mode, a receiver is activated to enable the monitoring of the ringing indication (RI). PC board space consumption is minimized by the availability of shrink small form factor packages (SSOP packages).

The device's low power consumption and small form factor requirements make it ideal for laptops and notebook applications.
