The DS3695A and DS3696A are high-speed differential three-state ® bus/line transceivers designed to meet the requirements of the RS485 environmental impact assessment standard for extended common-mode range (+12 V to - 7 V). In addition, they are all consistent with the requirements of RS-422.

The driver and receive outputs feature tri-state functionality. The driver output maintains tri-state over the entire +12 V common-mode range of -® 7 V. A bus failure causes excessive power consumption in the device to trigger a thermal shutdown circuit, and the force enters a high-impedance state with the driver output. The DS3696A provides an output pin (TS) for reporting the thermal shutdown of the device. TS is an "open collector" with 10 thousand needles inside Pull-up resistor. This allows multiple devices to perform line or ED lenses with TS outputs.

Both AC and DC specifications guarantee temperatures from 0°C to 70°C and supply voltage ranges of 4.75V to 5.25V.
