The DS42MB200 is designed for use in dual-signal conditioning 2:1 multiplexer and 1:2 fanout buffer backplane redundancy applications. Signal conditioning features include input equalization and programmable output pre-emphasis, enabling FR4 backplanes for data communications up to 4.25 Gbps. Each input stage has a fixed equalizer to reduce distortion of the board trace ISI.

All output drivers have 4 selectable pre-emphasis steps to compensate for transmission losses from the FR4 backplane and reduce decisive jitter. Pre-emphasis level allows independent control of the driver at the wire end and switch side. The internal loopback path from the input switch side of the switch side can be tested in high-speed systems. All receiver inputs are internally terminated with 100Ω differential termination resistors. All driver outputs are internally terminated from 50Ω to V_CC。
