The EL7554 is a full-featured, synchronous 4A buck regulation with up to 96% efficiency. The device operates from a 3V to 6V VIN input supply. With an internal CMOS power FET, the device can operate at up to 100% duty cycle, enabling the output voltage range to rise from 0.8V to nearly VIN.The high switching frequency adjustable to 1MHz enables the use of small parts so that the entire converter occupies less than 0.58 square inches of components on one side of the PCB. The EL7554 operates in constant frequency PWM mode, making external synchronization possible. The EL7554 features soft-start and full-start control, which eliminates inrush current, enabling the user to control multiple converters to start any easy configuration. The EL7554 also offers ±5% voltage tolerance, allowing for increased and lower testing during manufacturing to verify the performance and reliability of system cards, quickly and easily deriving supplies from the EL7554. The junction temperature indicator conveniently monitors silicon wafer temperature, saving designers time in cumbersome thermal characteristics. An easy-to-use analog tool is available for download and can be used to modify design parameters such as switching frequency, ripple voltage, ambient temperature, as well as view schematic waveforms, efficiency plots, and complete BOMs with Gerber layouts. The EL7554 is a 28 LD HTSSOP package and is specified for operation over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range.
