EVAL-AD7400EDZ Isolated Sigma-Δ Modulator 

The AD7400 is a second-order sigma-delta modulator that converts analog input signals into high-speed 1-bit data streams using on-chip digital isolation with Analog Devices' iCoupler® technology. The AD7400 operates from a 5V supply and can input a differential signal ± 200 mV (full scale± 320 mV). The analog modulator continuously samples the input signal, eliminating the need for an external sample-holding circuit. The input information is contained in an output stream with a data rate of 10 MHz, and the original information can be reconstructed with appropriate digital filters. Serial I/O can be operated from either a 5 V or 3 V supply (VDD2).

Serial interfaces are digitally isolated. By combining high-speed CMOS processes with monolithic air-core transformer technology, on-chip isolation provides superior operating characteristics compared to other devices such as traditional optocouplers. The device has a built-in on-chip reference. The AD7400 is available in a 16-pin SOIC package and has an operating temperature range of −40°C to +105°C.
