FM24CL16 overview
The FM24CL16 is a 16K bit non-volatile memory manufactured using an advanced ferroelectric process. Ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM) is non-volatile and can be read and written as quickly as RAM. The data in the FM24CL16 can be stored for 45 years after a power loss. Compared with EEPROM or other non-volatile memory, FM24CL16 has many advantages such as simpler structure and higher system reliability.
Unlike the EEPROM series, the FM24CL16 performs write operations at bus speed without delay. After the data is sent to the FM24CL16, it is written directly to the specific unit address, and the next bus operation can start immediately without data polling. In addition, the FM24CL16 has a virtually unlimited read/write count and is orders of magnitude more durable than EEPROM. At the same time, the FM24CL16 consumes very little power written because no internal boost circuitry is required.
