There are four connector types for plastic fiber terminals: simplex, simplex lock, duplex lock, and duplex lock.
All connectors are bayonet connections when matched to common link parts. Simplex connectors are color-coded to make it easier to identify transmitter and receiver connections. Duplex connectors are equipped with keys for proper orientation when inserted. If POF cables/connectors will be used for extreme operating temperatures or will undergo frequent and extensive temperature cycling, RTV adhesives can be used to enhance the cable/connector connection (see plastic connection instructions). The connectors are made of flame-retardant VALOX UL94 V-0 material (UL file number E121562).

- Two levels of 1 mm diameter plastic fiber (POF): low-cost standard POF with a common attenuation of 0.22 dB/m; or a high-performance, ultra-low-loss POF with 0.19 dB/m common attenuation
