Intersil's ISL32613E and ISL32614E ± 16.5kV HBM ESD protection (7KV compliant with IEC61000 contact), 1.8V powered, single differential communication transmitter. These drivers have a very low bus current (± 40μA), so they propose "1/8 unit load" buses. This will allow more than 256 transmitters on the network, without violating the RS-485 specification for a maximum of 32 unit loads and without repeaters. Hot-swap circuitry ensures that the Tx output maintains a high impedance state while the power supply is stable. Both ICs utilize drivers with limited slew rates to reduce EMI and reflections from improperly terminated transmission lines or unfinished stubs in multipoint and multipoint applications. The ISL32613E is the slew rate up to 128kbps data transfer rate limit, while the less limited ISL32614E is useful for data transfer rates to 256kbps.
