ISL34340, ISL34340 27:1 SERDES with bidirectional I2C interface can transmit 24 RGB bits and triple video control bits at 40MHz, 6MHz pixel clock frequency in a single high-speed data stream.
MILPITAS, Calif. — July 7, 2008 — Intersil Corporation (Nasdaq: ISIL), a global leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance analog semiconductors, today announced the launch of ISL34340 SERDES interface ICs. The device can deliver 27-bit video data and bidirectional I2C to a 10-meter-long high-speed LVDS cable.
ISL34340 particularly suitable for SERDES applications in video systems including industrial, medical display, printing, and security.
Intersil's multiple performance and integration enhancements help designers significantly reduce costs while improving the distance and reliability of video signals. It uses standard video streaming and can turn 3×8 (24) RGB bits and three video control bits into a single LVDS pair, which reduces the cost of connectors and cables while improving EMI/EMC performance; Thanks to bidirectional I2C control, ISL34340 helps designers use fewer cables; Termination resistors embedded in the ISL34340 do not require the use of discrete resistors, further reducing costs.
ISL34340 improved application reliability with lock/loss detection, which means higher reliability in systems that can be used without cables and can be used with this type of device, especially for detecting signaled faults.
The 8b/10b code of DC balance in the ISL34340 enables AC coupling while being immune to ground potential shift. Improvements to common-mode transmission effects contribute to reliable signal transmission over longer cable distances. ISL34340 integrated transmitter pre-reinforcement and receiver equalization capabilities can reduce the use of longer-distance, less expensive cables by eliminating unnecessary signal units for clearer end-to-end signal transmission.
