ISL78228 is a high-efficiency, dual-output synchronous step-down DC/DC regulator that provides up to 800mA of continuous output current per channel. The supply voltage range of 2.75V to 5.5V allows for the use of either a 3.3V or 5V input. Current-mode control architecture that operates at high frequencies with very low duty cycles with fast transient response and superior loop stability. ISL78228 operate the AM radio bands mentioned above, as well as the 2.25MHz switching frequency, allowing for the use of small, low-cost inductors and capacitors. Each channel is optimized to produce output voltages as low as 0.6V. ISL78228 has a user-configurable mode of operation, forced PWM mode and PFM/PWM mode. Forced PWM mode operation reduces noise and RF interference, while PFM mode operates to provide high efficiency by reducing switching losses at light loads. In PFM operating mode, the dual-channel draws a total quiescent current of only 30μA, resulting in high light-load efficiency to maximize battery life. ISL78228 provides a 1ms power supply good (PG) monitoring of the two outputs. When the machine is turned off, the ISL78228 output capacitor discharges. Other features include internal digital soft-start, enable power sequence, overcurrent protection, and thermal shutdown. The ISL78228 in a 10-pin DFN package of 3mmx3mm is available with a maximum height of 1mm. The complete converter occupies an area of less than 1.8 cm2. ISL78228 AEC - Q100 from both sides was well received and fully passed TS16949 standards. The ISL78228 is rated for automotive-grade temperature range (-40°C to +105°C).
