ISL97901 is a high-efficiency four-channel 1.5A continuous LED driver powered by a single Li-ion battery or regulated input voltage up to 5.5V. The ISL97901 uses an independent current-controlled type drive mechanism for each LED to allow precise brightness control.

ISL97901 also incorporates a buck-boost converter to ensure that the optimal output voltage is maintained at a wide variety of LED forward voltages. ISL97901 highly integrated and efficient core business of power conversion with an efficiency of more than 90% over a wide range of operating conditions. The power conversion core, which implements a proprietary algorithm that allows for seamless transition between buck and boost modes and interference-free operation, during which the battery voltage drops.

ISL97901 provides an I/O pin interface with white balance control for Intersil's light sensor ICs. White balance is achieved through a closed photoelectric loop, which allows the light output of the LED to be calibrated to a pre-set target value. If real-time white balance control is not desired, ISL97901 can also be configured to run in open loop mode. In this case, the current of the LED is set by the internal register.
