The LM1117 is a dropout series with a low dropout voltage regulation of 1.2V and a load current of 800mA. It has the same pin output as the National Semiconductor's industry standard LM317.
The LM1117 is available in an adjustable version and can be set from a 1.25V output voltage to only 13.8V with two external resistors. In addition, it is also available in five fixed voltages, 1.8V, 2.5V and 2.85V, 3.3V and 5V.
Current limiting and thermal shutdown are provided in the LM1117. Its circuitry includes a Zener trim bandgap reference to guarantee an output voltage accuracy of 1% at ±.
The LM1117 series is available in the firm's TO-263 in SOT-223 and TO-220 and TO-252 D-PAK packages. The minimum requirement for a tantalum capacitor of 10uF is to improve output transient response and stability.
