illustrate
The LM20146 is a full-featured, tunable frequency synchronous buck regulator that provides up to 6A capability of continuous output current. The current mode controls loop compensation and can be stabilized with almost any type of output capacitor. In most cases, the compensation device requires only two external components, providing maximum flexibility and ease of use. The device is suitable for operation over a wide range of input voltages from 2.95V to 5.5V, making it a suitable temperature range for a low-voltage system.
The device has internal overvoltage protection (OVP) and overcurrent protection circuitry to improve system reliability (OCP). Precise enabling pins and integrated UVLO implementation are tightly controlled and sequenced on the device. Start-up inrush current limit, both internally fixed and externally adjustable soft-start circuitry. Fault detection and power sequencing are good circuits that may be integrated with the power supply.
The design of the LM20146 works well on multi-rail power supplies. The output voltage of the device can be set to a higher voltage rail tracking using stainless steel/Tielck pins. If the output of the LM20146 is pre-biased when started, it will not pull the output low.
The device can adjust the frequency from 250 kHz to 750 kHz by connecting an external resistor from the RT pin to ground.
The LM20146 is available in a 16-pin eTSSOP package with bare pads that can be soldered to printed circuit boards, eliminating the need for bulky heatsinks.
