The LM20146 is a full-featured, tunable frequency synchronous buck regulator that provides up to 6A of continuous output current capability. Loop compensation is controlled in current mode and is stable with almost any type of output capacitor. In most cases, only two external elements are required for the compensation unit, providing maximum flexibility and ease of use. The device is optimized to operate over an input voltage range of 2.95V to 5.5V, making it a low-voltage system that is widely used in a wide range of applications.

The device features overvoltage protection (OVP) and overcurrent protection (OCP) inside the circuit to improve system reliability. A high-precision enable pin and integrated UVLO allow tight control and sequencing equipment to be turned on. The starting inrush current limit is both internally fixed and externally adjustable soft-start circuitry. Fault detection and power sequencing are circuits that may be good with integrated power supplies.

The design of LM20146 works on the well-structured multi-rail power supply. The output voltage of the device can be set to a higher voltage rail tracking using SS/TRK pins. If the LM20146 output is at startup, the pre-bias will not pull the output low.

The frequency of the device can be adjusted from 250 kHz to 750 kHz by connecting an external resistor to ground on the RT pin.

LM20146 comes in a 16-pin eTSSOP package with bare pads that can be soldered to printed circuit boards, eliminating the need for bulky heatsinks.
