The LM20146 is a full-featured, adjustable frequency synchronous buck regulator that provides up to 6A of continuous output current capability. The current-mode control loop is compensated and stable with almost any type of output capacitor. In most cases, compensation devices require only two external components, providing maximum flexibility and ease of use. The device is optimized for operation over a 2.95V to 5.5V input voltage range, making it a wide range of applications in a wide range of low voltage systems.

The device features overvoltage protection (OVP) and overcurrent protection (OCP) inside the circuit to improve system reliability. A high-precision enable pin and integrated UVLO allow for tight control and sequencing device turn-on. The start-up inrush current limit is both an internally fixed and externally adjustable soft-start circuit. Fault detection and power sequencing are possible with integrated power good circuits.

The LM20146 is designed to work well in multi-rail power structures. The output voltage of the device can be set to higher voltage rail tracking using SS/TRK pins. If the output of the LM20146 is at startup, prebias will not pull the output low.

The frequency of the device can be adjusted from 250 kHz to 750 kHz by connecting an external resistor to ground at the RT pin.

The LM20146 is available in a 16-pin eTSSOP package with an exposed pad that can be soldered to a printed circuit board, eliminating the need for a bulky heat sink.
