The LM3102 synchronous buck converter has all the features needed to achieve high efficiency and cost-effective buck regulator. It is capable of providing 2.5A with the same output of 0.8V low voltage load. Dual N-channel MOSFET switches allow for synchronization of low component counts, reducing complexity and reducing board size.

Unlike most other COT regulators, the LM3102 does not rely on ESR stability of the output capacitor and is very good for design with ceramic and other very low ESR output capacitors. It eliminates the need for loop compensation, fast load transient response and simple circuit implementation results. The operating frequency is virtually the same as the line-to-line, as the input voltage and on-time are inversely proportional. It operates at an externally programmable frequency of up to 1 MHz. The protection features of the V CC include undervoltage lockout, output overvoltage protection, thermal shutdown, and gate drive undervoltage lockout. The LM3102 is available in thermally enhanced eTSSOP-20 packages as well as uSMD low-profile chip-level packages with reduced output current.
